The Sustainable Waste Management Team at Garden Organic research and provide advice on composting as a sustainable solution to organic waste management.
We have expertise in the promotion of home composting initiatives in collaboration with local authorities, monitoring and evaluating home composting, and providing information, training and support for home composters and community workers volunteers, as well as local authority waste minimisation personnel.
We are currently involved with a number of Master Composter schemes across England which are all run in conjunction with the relevant county council or waste partnership. We have responsibility for training the volunteers and for providing them with technical support and, in some instances, provide the day-to-day operational support.
Garden Organic, the UK's leading organic growing charity, has been at the forefront of the organic horticulture movement for over 50 years. We are dedicated to researching and promoting organic gardening, farming and food. We have over 20,000 members and 1,000 volunteers nationwide. Garden Organic works to enable and support people to get involved in organic growing, through research, education, demonstration gardens and practical projects, and through lobbying and campaigning.
At our headquarters in Warwickshire, we manage 10 acres of organic demonstration gardens. Our Compost and Soil Fertility Garden is a working demonstration of a wide variety of composting methods and practices, the garden is designed to educate and inspire visitors to compost their own organic waste at home.
